While Mr. Cupcakes and I are not 100% vegan, we do try our best to eat mostly plant based. However, that can be a struggle when trying to eat out. One gorgeous sunny Saturday, we decided to explore one of our favorite parts of Orlando and have lunch. Enter Dandelion Community Cafe.

Dandelion Community Café Orlando

Dandelion is a local cafe that features delicious organic and 100% plant based meals. They have so many healthy vegan options and use only quality ingredients that are locally sourced. The cafe is inside of a charming historic house in downtown Orlando. The cafe has a laid back vibe and art from local artists adorns the walls. Each table and setting is unique and quirky.

In addition to a growing menu of plant based and gluten free dishes, Dandelion also serves coffee, beer and wine, a variety of teas, natural sodas, and kombucha.

Being from a German family, Matt can never pass up a dish with sauerkraut so he opted for the Sauer Power Bowl. In addition to house made sauerkraut the bowl had carrots, cucumbers, mung sprouts, curry cashews and was topped with a ginger dressing. Matt really enjoyed this bowl and wants to go back soon for another serving. Seriously, he won’t shut up about it.

Just as Matt can never resist sauerkraut, I have a hard time passing up anything with buffalo sauce. I got the Buffalo 66 bowl. Cashew crusted tempeh is tossed with greens, celery, red onion and carrots. The buffalo sauce and a vegan ranch are served on the side. This dish was so good and super filling that I could only eat half of it. I did take the other half home and enjoyed it again at dinner. I also got a side of the potato salad and it was super delicious.

We also got the Nachos Libre as an appetizer. The cheese was so creamy and delicious that we finished the whole plate of nachos before I remembered to take a picture. Yes, they were that good.

Even if you are not a vegan, the food at Dandelion is so delicious and nourishing that you are bound to find something tasty. I highly recommend if you are in the downtown Orlando area to stop in and check them out. Tell them Christopher Cupcakes sent ya!
