What Hip Californians Do
If you are following me on Instagram (and you should be) you will know that I spent Thanksgiving week visiting my chosen family and dearest friends in Los Angeles. If I’m being totally transparent, I have always thought it would be sweet to live in LA, so this trip was partly to convince my husband, Matt, that we should one day move to LA.
LA was exactly as I pictured it, hip restaurants, bustling traffic, and a cool laid back vibe. My friends were the best tour guides and we got to see so much of the city. We drove down Mullholand Drive, shopped at Dior on Rodeo Drive, had brunch at a cool spot that only locals know about, ate the best handmade tacos ever and of course visited Disneyland.
HOw to be a Local in Orlando
While I did fall in love with LA and it was hard to leave (when can I go back?!) I also found a new perspective on my current hometown of Orlando. Moving here a year and a half ago was a tough choice and to be honest, I’m not even a hundred percent sure yet that it was the right choice.
But seeing how much Californians support local businesses and artists, made me realize that I don’t do that enough here in Orlando. Part of my intention for this blog was to connect with and support local businesses here in Central Florida, something that I haven’t been doing as much as I had intended.
Being Disney nerds, it is just so easy to go to the parks and see all the new events, decorations, food items, rides, etc. It is especially easy when you are a Walt Disney World pass-holder and live ten minutes from the parks.
Orlando and central florida resource guide
So after coming back from my LA trip, I have decided to support more local business and share them on this blog. Check out the new “Orlando” section at the top of the site. Within that page I will be sharing NON-DISNEY news, events, restaurant reviews, shop resources and more from the Central Florida and Orlando areas.
It is my hope that part of this blog will be a useful resource for those liviing in and ivistin Orlando and Central Florida to find and do things that are specific and local to the area.
So help a sistah out and let me know in the comments below some of your favorite local spots in Orlando. Comment below with one spot and why you love it and you just might see it listed in a next post. And if you are a local business that would like me to come and review your store, restaurant, etc. please email me so we can set something up.
