Y’all know I love everything French and that includes French food. We’re lucky enough to live near at least three French cafes. We recently discovered the newly open The French Cafe in Winter Garden.
The French Cafe is an adorable cafe that gives an authentic French cafe experience. The walls are painted in little Parisian themed murals. This is the perfect place to have breakfast, lunch or just grab a pastry and a coffee to meet with friends. The menu includes crepes, quiches, croissants and other delicious French pastries.
Chef Francois Paille is from Alsace, France and studied baking with some of the best pastry chefs in Strasbourg and Lyon. He now works at The French Cafe bringing us the best of a Parisian patisserie.
Our favorite items are the wide variety of crepes and the Croque Madame (a Croque Monsieur with an egg on top). The food is delicious but also light enough that you don’t feel you have overindulged.
However, if you would like to indulge, the offerings of French pastries is absolutely amazing. Everything from croissants to beautiful fruit tarts to cakes and macarons. On our last visit I brought home this fabulous Fraisier cake. Trust me it was more delicious than it actually looks.
This classic French cake is comprised of a génoise (sponge cake), filled with loads of fresh strawberries in a mousseline cream and finally, topped with a thin layer of tinted almond paste. Tres delicieux.
If you are in the Orlando area, pop on over to Winter Garden and try The French Cafe. Tell them Christopher Cupcakes sent ya.
